Bio

Able to craft unique "rhymes to beats, beats to rhymes" chemistry, The Lyricists are a clever and talented hip hop group hailing from Port Huron, Michigan. The Lyricists came together in 1995, and consists of two emcee's, Illtone and Rym-Benda, along with DJ Haus Diesel. The charismatic trio drops conscious rhymes and witty wordplay over comfortable and fresh melodies, creating a mix that keeps the heads bouncing and the listeners entertained. The energy shared between the team during their live performances brings out an extra spark, enhancing the group’s stage presence and allowing the music and lyrics to stand strong, even next to the world class performers they have already shared the stage with: Rahzel “The Godfather Of Noise,” The Executioners, J-Rocc of the World Famous Beat Junkies, Camp Lo, Cappadonna, Killa Priest of the Wu-Tang Clan, MC Juice, Proof of D12, Slum Village, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Soul Position and A-Trak.

In 2000, The Lyricists released their debut album entitled “Outta Nowhere,” in reference to their location on the thumb of Michigan. After working hard to get their name known and promoted, The Lyricists dropped their second release in 2003, “Anti-Industry.” The title spoke volumes about the source of the group’s inspiration and motivation: opposing the virtual machine that controls the state of hip hop on the commercial level. Their next album “L3” – short for “Level 3” – symbolized the group musically and professionally elevating their third time around. The Lyricists’ most recent release, "Get Heard or Die Tryin’,” came out in July of 2007, to much critical acclaim. A mixture of both new material and songs dating back to 2002, it was the group’s first time working with different producers, and led to a subsequent “Get Heard or Die Tryin’ Tour,” which stretched across the East Coast, through the Midwest, and up into Canada. Now teamed up with Bmore Original Records’ DJ Excel, The Lyricists’ next release “Transmitten Live” will be a culmination of their clever wordplay, unique chemistry, and raw talent, all highlighted by DJ Excel’s rich and vibrant production. “Transmitten Live” will be available online and in stores in 4th quarter of 2008.
